Even with the City’s unprecedented investments into affordable housing efforts, we are not keeping up with the current growth or projected population increases. Chris will continue to ensure that Salt Lake City leads the state in affordable housing investments.

Homelessness is an inseparable part of housing affordability. While many individuals experiencing homelessness are concentrated in our borders, it will take more than just Salt Lake City to address this systemic issue. Chris will continue advocating for the kind of intergovernmental collaboration necessary to break the cycle of living on the streets.

  • Chris helped lead the largest investment in affordable housing in Salt Lake City’s history.

  • In his time on the Council, Chris has supported over $15 million in affordable housing investments.

  • Chris understands that many factors contribute to homelessness, so we must have different strategies to reach different groups of unsheltered individuals.

  • Chris has consistently supported increasing outreach efforts to directly connect unhoused individuals with shelter, treatment, employment, and other resources.

  • Chris believes in “Housing First” approaches and has been involved in creative efforts like shelter motels and tiny houses.
